• Nominees for the 2025 EBEX Awards

    The Estevan Chamber of Commerce recognizes the importance of highlighting the outstanding achievements of our business community through the biennial Estevan Business Excellence (EBEX) Awards, and is pleased to announce the nominees for the 2025 EBEX Awards. The 2025 EBEX Awards will take place on Friday, October 24th at Southeast College.

    Tickets are $75 each, and available at estevanchamber.ca or by calling 306-634-2828. Included in the evening is a delicious ‘standing supper’ consisting of hearty appetizers and deserts, networking, and the opportunity to celebrate those who make our community strong.

    Nominations are accepted and submitted to an independent panel of judges comprised of representatives from MNP residing outside of Estevan area to ensure impartiality. There are 9 Categories that nominations are accepted for; with the ‘Business of the Year’ Award determined by the judges from all nominees.

    The 2025 inductees of the Nick & Verna Morsky Business Hall of Fame were chosen by our Board of Directors. Inductees are pioneer and cornerstone business leaders who have demonstrated excellence over a period of at least 15 years and whose business has contributed to the economic well-being of Estevan and immediate area. The individual does not need to be currently operating in order to be eligible and owning and operating several businesses over a minimum of 15 consecutive years will also be eligible.

    Outstanding Service
    This award goes to a business demonstrating exceptional performance in providing quality customer service. Judging considers the relative size and particular conditions of the business, as well as the growth potential, stability, investment strategy, and quality of customer service initiatives.

    Community Involvement
    To be awarded to the business that demonstrates outstanding performance in its support of arts and culture, recreation, amateur sports, education, and community/business development within the region. Judging will take into account relative size of the business.

    Nominees for Community Involvement:

    • South East Eyecare
    Growth and Expansion
    The Achievement for Business Excellence Award for Growth and Expansion is given to a business that has made significant changes in their business resulting in “Growth” or “Expansion”. Changes may relate to job creation, investment, revenue, and/or profit.

    Nominees for Growth and Expansion:

    • Save the Stress Cleaning Services
    Young Entrepreneur of the Year
    Awarded to an individual between the ages 18-35 who has achieved success in the start-up and operation of a new or existing business.

    Nominees for Young Entrepreneur of the Year:

    • Matthew Walliser (Souris Family Pharmacy)
    New Business Venture
    Award goes to a new business venture which has been in existence for 3 years or less and which has shown positive performance in terms of current or expected profitability, job creation and/or entry into new markets. Nominees are judged on financial criteria as well as the nature of the new venture and its impact in the community (taking into account the size of the new venture).

    Outstanding Employee
    Awarded to an individual to honour and acknowledge excellence at work. This employee exemplifies the mission statement of the company, acts ethically, inspires or earns admiration among colleagues and models high performance standards.

    Diversity in the Workplace
    To be awarded to a business which demonstrates Diversity in the Workplace. Diversity can encompasses any of the following; gender, race, age, ethnicity, religion, citizenship status, sexual orientation, military service, and mental and physical conditions, or any other distinct differences between employees.

    Nominees for Diversity in the Workplace:

    Social Impact
    To be awarded to a not-for-profit or charity that has positively impacted the local and/or regional community in one or more of the areas of arts and culture, recreation, amateur sports, education, and community/business development within the region (taking in size of the organization).

    Business of the Year Award (All Nominees are entered to win)
    All Businesses nominated in all the other 2025 EBEX categories will be eligible to receive this award. Judges will take into consideration the overall strength of the business and their contribution to our region. Judges are to select from the nominees the business that they see as the nomination that impacted them the most.
